A truly professional paint job is almost entirely determined before a single drop of “finish” paint is ever applied. What separates a master-level finish from a standard “paint-and-go” job is the meticulous, often invisible, preparation that constitutes 90% of the work. This is a non-negotiable process that involves far more than just patching a few nail holes. It means a comprehensive surface restoration: meticulously sanding all walls and trim to create a uniform, “toothy” surface for adhesion; addressing and repairing all imperfections, from subtle drywall “nail pops” and stress cracks to uneven builder’s seams; and caulking all gaps in the trim and molding for a seamless, “built-in” look. This phase also includes the critical step of applying the correct primer—not just to cover stains, but to seal new drywall, bond to slick surfaces, and ensure the final color has a rich, uniform, and true-to-the-chip appearance.
